Secondary Science – Developing Scientific Literacy Skills [Bilingual]

Suitable for: all teachers of Science

• This course is designed to develop inspirational teachers who work collaboratively to raise standards, by providing delegates with effective strategies and ideas on how to develop pupils’ Scientific Literacy skills.

This workshop will develop strategies that can be used to enable pupils to;

• appreciate and understand the impact of Science and Technology on everyday life
• make informed personal decisions about things that involve Science, such as health, diet, use of energy resources
• read and understand the essential points of media reports about matters that involve Science
• analyze graphs and data tables
• reflect critically on the information included in, and (often more important) omitted from, such reports and
• take part confidently in discussions with others about issues involving Science.
