The dates of the professional Learning (PL) for NQTs who will be working at your school from September 2022 are attached. It is important that all NQTs attend the PL.

This playlist has been complied to help you to support a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) or to supportyou as an NQT to complete thye process of Induction in Wales 2020-21

Information relating to the national annually updated series of training/briefing sessions for Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and teachers involved in supporting the statutory induction process

During 2020-21, there will be significant changes to induction regulations, and it will be more important than ever that every school induction mentor (IM), NQT and external verifier (EV) engage in a training session. There will be a range of bespoke sessions for each role.

• Schools should appoint an IM to attend a session even if they have not currently recruited a teacher who will be an NQT in September, since most schools eventually employ NQTs on part time/full time contracts or on short term supply at some point through the academic year.

The new regulations proposed include changes to roles and responsibilities, statutory guidance and the navigation and use of the Professional Learning Passport. A secure understanding of all these changes will ensure all NQTs in Wales have their entitlement of support and guidance through their induction period.

The sessions will be hosted in a 2-hour online format and will be facilitated by the regional induction leads from the four consortia. They have been scheduled flexibly to include morning, afternoon, twilights and one Saturday so that every person involved in the process can choose the date and time that is most convenient to them.

The training will include a pre-reading pack, a webcast and regional follow up activities. All IMs and EVs will receive funding for their release to engage in the training. Release costs will be paid on completion of all activities including a response form.

Please ensure that all NQTs, IMs and EVs working in your school are alerted to this invitation to sign up to the relevant training for them on the day and date most convenient to them.
